Something Sweet, Something Funny!

Something Sweet!

I have looked everywhere for a cute V-day shirt for Brett. I haven't seen anything even remotely cute for a toddler boy so I took matters into my own hands and decided to make him one. I like it so much that I might make some more of these for him to wear(different ones of course) I took some sponges and cut them into hearts, got some fabric paint to use on the shirt. When the paint dried, I took puff paint and painted the sayings onto the hearts. Now the tough part comes-getting a squirmy kid to stay still to get a decent picture.

Something Funny!

Yesterday morning, Brett woke up around 8:30. I was not ready to get up yet, so I let him talk for a few minutes. About 10 minutes later, Nic goes into his room to get him up. This is what I hear...."Katie, get in here quick...." , now I'm thinking something happened....he got himself out of his crib or maybe he was bleeding;I don't know! I go in and see Brett holding his diaper on top of his head, butt naked, his PJ's thrown across the room. I was hysterical!!!! He was looking at us like we were crazy for thinking he was crazy! He must have just taken his jammies off because there wasn't any pee anywhere(THANK GOD!!) he has never attepted to take his clothes off before, I wonder if this is the start of something....

Instant entertainment!

Today I made homemade play dough for Brett using this QUICK and EASY recipe. Fun!!!

It's a tad bit early but....

I am decorating for Valentine's Day!!! I'm not the mushy romantic type, but I do LOVE pink and red, so I figure if I start now, I can enjoy for a bit longer. I'm not all that impressed w/ the decorations I have seen so far in stores. I made this wreath and I LOVE it! It looks soooo much prettier in person. I got the idea from this amazing website-love all of their ideas! I only wish I had a pretty black door to make my wreath really POP! Oh well. I am going to make one for my mom and grandma for V-day gifts. In case your wondering, I was able to get this done while Brett was napping (I hate to call in napping since it lasted all of about an hour. I wish my kid liked to nap-mommy would really like it!!!)

I found the wooden hearts( they have a bunch of different styles) at Jo-Anns, drilled a hole and viola...I bought enough to hand on all of my doors. The felt heart(sorry for the craptastic pic) I also found at Jo-Anns...I thought it was really cute! It hangs on my front door.

Next up is my mantle. I scored at Big Lots (or as I affectionately call it-Pick N Shit) and TJ Maxx and found some apothecary jars. I want to put something in them, just now sure what. Any ideas? I will try to take pics to show you!

A Day Full of Motivation!!!

Congrats! to our newest (and hottest) president! Let me just say that I will have a new reason to pay attention to politics :wink wink: I love their family. I CAN"T wait to see what is in store for our new president. I feel so proud to be an American today.

I also found a great menu planner for people following WW....a great resource to get me motivated to fit into a tankini/bikini come Summer.

Homemade Gift Ideas

These are two ornaments that I made for gifts for Christmas. The puzzle frame is a great one for grandparents/family. I got a puzzle from the Dollar Tree and was able to make six frames out of it. I spray painted the pieces green. I had the buttons on hand and found some cute ribbon. I used felt on the back to glue the picture onto. After I spray painted the puzzle pieces, I found the size circle I wanted, traced it onto wax paper and used it as my template. I glued the pieces so they would overlap. Once the frame dried, I pulled it off the wax paper and glued my felt, buttons and bow onto the frame. Finally, I added a loop to hang from and wrote the year on the back....grandparents get mad if I forget to do this!

The second ornament I made was using a clear glass ornament(again from the Dollar Tree) and glitter. My favorite glitter is Martha Stewart...it is soooo fine and sparkly! I used the eraser tip from a pencil, dipped into glue and just repeated all over the ball. I had to do one side, let it dry and then do the other. Add some cute ribbon and viola! It took several days, since I did multiple colors. I love the look of it, very sparkly!
